EDITOR’S NOTE
Happy May Day. What even is May Day, right?? The welcoming of spring? A signal of pending disaster? I had to look it up…

May Day is “a dual-purpose holiday combining ancient spring fertility rituals with modern celebrations of labor rights.” (In addition to an airplane distress call.)
So… here’s to labor👷and being in labor🤰.
Anyway, let’s tap into today.
LUXURY
Silk Polos 🫦🫦
Orazio Luciano has been cutting out of Naples since the early '90s, and this long-sleeve polo is a good reason why they still matter. The verde silk sits in a green that reads more earthy than loud, and it drapes the way only silk does. Each piece is hand made in their own workshop, with fabric chosen by Pino Luciano himself. This one pairs with a cream trouser or tan chino and does all the talking from there.
The rosa antico short-sleeve polo is cut in a costa larga knit that gives the silk some body and texture without adding weight. Antique rose is the kind of color that reads confident in person and photographs beautifully, sitting just far enough from pink to avoid any confusion. The wide rib adds subtle structure at the collar and hem, and the whole thing is hand made in Italy in very small runs. It is the warm-weather luxury piece that does not announce itself until someone asks.
WORKWEAR
Full-zip Options at Inoffensive Prices
Key Apparel has been making no-nonsense work clothing in Parsons, Kansas since 1908, and this Polar King hoodie is the kind of thing they do best. The 9oz fleece outer shell sits over a thermal knit lining, with lined sleeves so it layers clean under anything heavier. Knit cuffs seal the wrists and a full zip makes it easy to regulate. This is the one to reach for when the morning is cold but the afternoon might not be. (20% off right now, too.)
When the thermal hoodie isn't enough, this 10oz cotton duck jacket is the next step up. The shell is dense and wind-resistant, with a black taffeta body lining and a 3-piece drawstring hood that actually covers what it needs to. Triple-needle stitching holds the stress points and knit cuffs lock in the heat at the wrist. Two front pockets and a locker loop round it out. This one is built for days when you are outside and staying there. (Also 20% off right now.)
STREETWEAR

These chenille-knit gloves come with a detail that no other glove thought to include: a leash with clips on each glove that connects around your neck so you keep them on you whether you are wearing them or not. Nobody asked for this, but I like it.
Washed white denim with dual front zip pockets, a main zip closure, and reinforced webbing with buckle detail throughout. The single padded cross-body strap makes it a sling bag by design, not by laziness (one-strapping a backpack is loser vibes). A rubberized logo patch on the strap keeps it in the Yardsale universe.
FORMAL WEAR
Shades of (light) Blue
This rugby shirt is cut from 11oz cotton jersey. There are rubber buttons at the placket, twill taping at the collar, and a relaxed fit. The ivory and blue stripe reads clean without getting loud, which is most of what you need from a warm-weather shirt. It holds its shape wash after wash and goes straight from the backyard to dinner without a second thought.
This 100% cotton trouser takes the logic of an oxford shirt and scales it up into a pant with real weight and structure. The pressed crease and straight leg give it a sharp look, while the fabric stays light enough to move in all day. On-seam side pockets keep it clean up front. The royal and white oxford cloth is the kind of color that pairs back to nearly anything in your rotation.
OFFICE WEAR
Good Value Chinos
Epaulet makes these in Los Angeles start to finish, and the Wilhelm cut goes back to WWII field trousers. Extra room in the thigh and seat, a folded-over waistband, and a fit that works whether your legs are closer to a fullback or a distance runner. The 8oz cotton twill comes from Mt. Vernon Mills in the US and hits a weight that works most of the year. It’ll soften with every wash. The details are right, too: button fly, coin pocket, rear welt pockets. This one is on sale and worth moving on.
Same Wilhelm cut as above but in a Japanese tech wool that blends 60% wool and 40% nylon into something that drapes like a dress pant and washes like a chino. The grey herringbone sits in charcoal, which means it pairs back to nearly any shoe or jacket in the rotation. Machine washable and wrinkle resistant make it the office pant that asks almost nothing of us in return. Also on final sale, so size availability is limited.
ONE LAST THING….
OOO 🇪🇸
Will be in Barcelona the next few days. Any non-negotiable cortado, paella, etc. places you know of, send ‘em my way.
Adios
