EDITOR’S NOTE

Busy. We are busy this week. But did I ever, even for a second, think about not writing TIM? No. Obviously not. Me???? Lacking like that because I have department heads asking for ad-hoc favors left and right? Ain’t gone happen.

Anyway, let’s tap into today.

LUXURY
Yohji

Yohji Yamamoto

Made with Bishu-produced wool gauze, this shirt hits the sweet spot between weight and warmth. The fabric gets soft from fulling treatment and holds shape well through wear. With a full-length zip, it works as a shirt or a light layer, and the unique texture from the weaving adds quiet detail that grows richer with time. Hand wash only to keep the delicate fiber intact.

Yohji Yamamoto

This shirt pairs a distressed floral print on the right chest with a sturdy 90/10 cotton-linen blend called horse cloth. The fabric is rough and durable by nature, designed to show character and last for years. The distressed look adds depth and subtlety without screaming for attention. Built for movement and daily wear.

WORKWEAR
Two Tasty Work Shirts

Rogue Territory

Roll-dyed in Los Angeles and sewn there too, this 11oz Japanese selvedge canvas shirt has a soft, lived-in feel right out of the box. The color fades naturally with wear and wash, showing wear in all the right places. Triple-needle chainstitched seams run through the body, antiqued brass snaps hold the front, and a single chest pocket sits high. Slim fit through the body, designed to layer or wear on its own.

Rogue Territory

Made from 5oz Japanese chambray with hand-stitched sashiko in light blue yarns, this shirt is lightweight and textured. The loosely woven fabric breathes easy, while reinforced elbow patches and a box pleat at the back yoke add function. Triple-needle chain-stitch runs the seams, and catseye buttons from Japan finish the details. Built to work hard and fade gracefully.

STREETWEAR
Mix & Match: Kapital Edition

S/o to Blue in Green for being such a consistent stockist of Kapital in the US. They have stores in Soho, Denver and Atlanta. Definitely a good time.

Blue in Green

Thick and lightweight at once, this pullover is made from plush boa fleece with a smooth poly exterior and lofty interior that traps heat without weight. Raglan sleeves give a loose, relaxed fit that layers well, and the half-zip lets you adjust warmth on the fly. Zip it all the way for a high funnel neck, or leave it loose as a collar. Made in Japan.

Blue in Green

Eight-wale corduroy in a wide, voluminous silhouette with a generous front zipper and pull tab. The baggy cut sits low with plenty of room through the leg, while a single beaded back pocket adds subtle character. Made from pure cotton in Japan, the fabric will shrink slightly and age with visible wear, gaining texture and depth as you wear it.

FORMAL WEAR
I dare you to try…

The knit tie game in your 20s is non-existent. Men in generations past need to be setting the example here. How do you pull this off?? I want to try, but candidly am not in any format of a tie enough to justify a risk like this. Someone show me the way.

Sam Hober

Hand-knitted on a flat machine in Germany from 100% silk, this tie has a relaxed texture that drapes without stiffness. The dot pattern sits subtle against black, and the knit construction means it won't crease or crease like woven silk. Wear it over a crew neck, roll your sleeves, and pair with charcoal or navy. Width hits around 6cm, length runs 140–146cm. Made for the guy testing neckwear waters.

Sam Hober

Same German knit construction as above, warmer in palette. Mandarin and dark chocolate pop enough to read intentional but pair clean with navy, olive, or camel. The silk knit keeps it casual, no fuss. Six centimeters wide, hand-finished in New York, ready to live in rotation without taking up mental space.

OFFICE WEAR
A Handmade Chino

Michael Williams wrote about this chino in an update on ACL yesterday, and since he is the Father, I proselytize what he does. (Here’s his great writeup.)

Henley Workshop

Made in New York from an 8.8oz Japanese cotton twill that earns its nickname—it's built to last. Double-needle flat felled seams run the inseams and outseams, the waistband is grown on for a clean finish, and deep pockets are bartacked for real use. The fit sits relaxed through the seat and hips, with a slight taper at the leg and medium-high rise. Hand-wash warm, tumble dry low—this chino gets better with age.
