EDITOR’S NOTE

This is a very top-heavy edition… meaning mostly tops.

Now that there are a number of you here who don’t know me well personally, it’s the right time to say that I believe tops are the most important part of a man’s look.

I will grow up one day and realize that clean shoes, clothes that fit, and balance are what really make a fit work. Ideally before the start of my 30s, as(unfortunately) a well-balanced outfit on a male cannot be taken for granted in America.

And still further into my future, perhaps in my 50s or 60s, I will come home to the objective truth that success and failure rest solely in the trouser. For example, a grandpa in quarter-inch thick purple corduroys. Paired with literally any button-down and a loafer, you just can’t beat that look.

But for now, I admit that I am disproportionately searching for and sending you home run hitter jackets and tops…

Anyway, let’s tap into today.

OFFICE WEAR
Naadam Szn Is Back

It was BRISK on my walk home from work yesterday. Can you believe it? I am seeing breakers, light trenches, and… little knits. The latter means one thing: Naadam.

Naadam

Naadam's crewneck is knit from 100% cashmere in a light gauge that works across seasons without making you sweat. The contrast trim at the collar and cuffs adds a clean edge to an otherwise simple design. At 7 gauge and single ply, the knit stays soft and airy while holding its shape through regular wear.

Naadam

Their signature polo is knit from the same airy cashmere as Naadam's crewnecks but shaped with a relaxed collar and no buttons at the neck. The ribbed details keep the edges clean and the lightweight makes it easy to layer under a jacket or wear on its own. Single-ply cashmere means it breathes well and the relaxed fit doesn't cling.

LUXURY
Italian Wool

Barena Venezia

Barena's Gafaro coat is cut from Italian wool and dyed in their unique "granelo" finish that gives the fabric a lived-in texture right from the start. Made in Italy with loose, work-inspired lines, this coat skips lining for a soft drape that moves with you. The gray shade works across seasons and the piece-dyed cloth means each one ages in its own way.

Barena Venezia

The Gabier coat uses a fuzzy wool blend called "lanoso" in a deep forest green that Barena calls Bosco. Made in Italy with their signature loose cut and no lining, it has patch pockets and natural shoulders for easy layering over sweaters or shirts. The napped surface traps heat while the relaxed shape keeps things from feeling stiff.

WORKWEAR
Domestic Cotton

Alright let’s bring this back down to Earth. Specifically American earth.

From $1000+ above, these $30 shirts are entirely US-made and -manufactured since 1903. Lifetime guarantee, heavyweight pre-shrunk cotton, no tariff.

Round House

Round House makes this long sleeve tee in Oklahoma with 6.1 oz. pre-shrunk cotton that holds up to hard use. The full-cut design has taped shoulders and double-needle stitching at the sleeves and hem so seams don't split after repeat wear. Open-end yarn gives the fabric a sturdy hand, and the fit stays true through many wash cycles.

Round House

This pocket tee is also made in the USA from 6.1 oz. pre-shrunk cotton with a chest pocket sized for a phone or small notebook. The fabric is dense enough to last through job site wear but soft enough for daily comfort. Round House adds their woven label at the hem and keeps the cut full so it doesn't bind when you bend or reach.

FORMAL WEAR
(Sorry, More Barena)

Couldn’t help but double dip this brand across two categories… this thing was too nice to leave you guys out of the loop.

Barena Venezia

Barena's Borgo jacket is made in Italy from their Matador fabric in a light stone shade called Sasso. Cut with soft shoulders and patch pockets, this piece sits between a blazer and a jacket with no lining for comfort. The fabric has a subtle corduroy texture and the fit is roomy enough to layer over knits without pulling tight.

STREETWEAR
Love me a little misplaced pocket

Better Gift Shop

Poche Studio's 1/3 zip hoodie is made from heavy terry cotton in a faded teal they call "Pond Water" (gross name). The oversized hood and small chest pocket make this a relaxed piece tied to LTTT, a weekly ping pong night in Little Tokyo. The terry fabric has a thick, looped interior that holds warmth and the zip stops at chest level for easy venting.

ONE LAST THING….
Commit to the Nit

I will be engaging in America’s greatest sporting tradition this weekend: the football tail gate. Truly… is there anything better on a fall Saturday than getting to the stadium five hours early with a proper cooking setup and full cooler? I’ll wait…
