EDITOR’S NOTE
It’s corporate holiday party season. Mine was last night, so I am more than moderately unwell this morning writing an update for you all.
It’s only by virtue of my selfless, laser-focused pursuit of product-oriented editorial content for men that I am out of bed right now. It ain’t about how, but it is about now.
Anyway, let’s tap into today.
LUXURY
Tasty layers from Drake’s
This is Drake’s take on the old US Air Force A-2, cut from thick green suede that shapes up as you wear it. The ribbed cuffs and hem give it that crisp fit we want in a short jacket. The collar stands up or folds down clean, and the zip is heavy enough to feel right. This is the type of layer you don’t baby. Suede here looks even better the more you live in it.
This vest has a soft bouclé wool that feels plush yet holds its shape. The ecru base with colorful thin stripes gives it a fun sporty look that works over denim or under a coat. The cotton trim and two-way zip add just enough contrast. It pulls off cozy duties without weighing you down.
WORKWEAR
Pants to not act dainty in
Made as a true field pant, this one uses dense cotton sateen washed for that broken-in hand feel. The straight leg sits easy, and the double-stitched seams remind you this brand still builds things to last. The color will fade with wear in the best way. It’s gear meant for hard work or lazy weekends, no shame either way.
These cords bring real heft, cut from sturdy cotton rib that softens fast. The light brass shade gives a worn sun-hit look we need when denim feels too dark. They’ve got side tabs and patch pockets that tie back. A clean “tool pant” build made for work, but easy to wear out too.
STREETWEAR
Bay Area Garb
GX1000 are a group of San Fran hill bombers. Below is a selection of things they sell besides decks… Not too shabby and a nice price point to boot.
This camo anorak lands in that sweet gray zone between army surplus and skate park. It’s made from a windproof shell with a half zip and a big front pouch for stashing trinkets. The print’s wild but not loud once you’re outside. You throw it on when the plan’s unclear, which is half the fun.
These pants go full throwback skater fit with a washed brown tone that looks like it’s seen things. The wide leg and heavy cotton twill make them drape in all the right ways. They’ve got an easy ’90s slouch without feeling like a costume. A pair to wear rough, tear up, and not think too hard about.
FORMAL WEAR
English Cardigans
This cardigan wears more like a jacket with a full button front and neat collar. The chunky knit wool keeps it firm yet soft enough to layer over a shirt. The charcoal shade hits the right calm note for offices or dinners. We’ve all needed a knit like this to skip the blazer without losing shape.
Wearing the pink version of this cardigan earns you varsity-level menswear status. The same cardigan comes in black below for those still in JV training. Thick ribbed cuffs and collar give it that sharp edge, and the wool knit drapes with real polish. The color looks gutsy but grown up, not loud for the sake of it.
OFFICE WEAR
Investment Piece: Pea Coat
This coat keeps the naval roots intact with a wide lapel and real metal buttons. The heavy melton wool blocks wind without feeling stiff. Deep pockets hold phone and gloves with room to spare. It has that officer look: smart enough for the office, tough enough to handle winter streets. It’s pricey for sure, but really ask yourself how much you’d wear a coat like this, and for how many years. It might just be worth the investment.
ONE LAST THING….
Genuine Question
How the f*** are people dealing with photo storage these days?
I feel like iCloud and Google Photos are a cartel with price hikes, and I can only bear paying so much monthly. Those prices are never gonna go anywhere but up.
Are people raw-dogging and living on the edge by just not having a cloud backup? On-device images only?
This is a genuine question… someone please enlighten me about what the right answer for regular people is.
As always, thanks for reading!
