EDITOR’S NOTE

WORLD CUP. THE WORLD FRICKEN CUP. IT’S HERE.

TIM’s prediction: Brazil-Spain final. Spain to lift.

Anyway, let’s tap into today.

LUXURY
Dainty Bombers

Loro Piana

The Wind Jersey bomber pairs Loro Piana's wind-resistant jersey with linen in a clean bomber cut. Stand collar, two-way zip, welt pockets, ribbed cuffs and hem. The linen and jersey mix keeps it light and breathable while the wind-blocking layer does quiet work. It sits unlined, so what you feel is entirely the cloth. Made in Italy, dry clean only.

Stefano Ricci

This would fit in tomorrow if you’re a Knicks fan. The Stefano Ricci blouson is cut in a textured wool, cotton, and silk mix with more pockets than most men will know what to do with: chest zip, two side zips, and an internal zip, all concealed. The stand collar and ribbed cuffs and hem give it a clean finish, and the two-way front zip lets you dial the drape. The orange reads bold and deliberate. This one does not blend in. Made in Italy, dry clean only.

WORKWEAR
A different type of work

Your tools are an extension of your style, of your savoir faire. A place that tells you a lot about a person’s character quickly is their kitchen, and their behavior in it. I’m including some non-clothes in this category today b/c hey, I make the rules here.

MadeIn

A great cast iron skillet gets used every day if you rely on feeding yourself or others. If you just DoorDash all day, then this isn’t for you. But for those that are making eggs by morning, reheating pasta at lunch (which is best done in a skillet and NOT the microwave), and then searing a steak before throwing it in the oven… you want a pan like this. Buy American. Thank me later.

Bialetti

When it comes to coffee, definitely do not buy American. Buy Italian. I used to spend $5-$7 a day buying cortados from coffee shops. Sometimes more if I doubled up. I realized this was ridiculous, but coffee is both functional and fun for me.

The only thing that got me off that path was this little guy. You buy it once for $30, and then all you need to buy is beans. Now my monthly coffee bill is ~$20 for a good bag of beans (1lb can last me a month if I’m having just one cup a day). Simple is elegant. Moka is the way.

STREETWEAR
Flowy Pants

Cav Empt

100% cotton run through a bio-wash that takes the stiffness out and leaves a softened, slightly worn-in hand from day one. The single front tuck gives the leg a relaxed drape without going full wide-leg, and welt pockets front and back keep the silhouette clean. A small graphic patch sits at the back waist, the only mark on an otherwise quiet pant. Made in Japan.

Cav Empt

The same 100% cotton construction but with two front tucks instead of one, pushing more volume into the leg and giving the whole thing a slightly more structured shape. The beige reads sand-neutral and pairs with just about anything on top. Welt inseam hand pockets, a welt back pocket, and a button flap pocket round out the details. Made in Japan.

FORMAL WEAR
A non-descript dress shirt

Jos. A. Bank

I dug one of these out of the back of my closet recently, and with a fresh press it fits and sits way better than it should for the $70 price point. You’re not making waves wearing this, but if you want your jacket or your pant or whatever else to do the talking, this could very well be an option to keep the shirt at bay. The slim fit isn’t even dangerously slim, it’s just not leaving you with the balloon effect that most American shirt cuts leave you with.

OFFICE WEAR
Office Linens

Alex Mill

The Camp Shirt is 100% linen cut in an open-collar camp shape with a clean placket and natural shell buttons. The fit runs true to size with a relaxed but not sloppy body — enough room to wear untucked without looking unresolved. White is the play here: the collar and cut give it just enough structure that it doesn't read beach, and the linen softens over time with every wash.

Polo Ralph Lauren

The Lateef is 100% linen cut with a relaxed leg, pleated front, and an elastic drawstring waist that sits at the natural waist. Two front angled pockets and a zip fly keep the front clean, while a welt pocket in back holds its own. The green reads earthy rather than loud, and the pleat gives the leg enough volume to move well in the heat without pulling or bunching. Machine washable.

ONE LAST THING….
For those w/ dads

Michael Williams, who is a muse for this newsletter, always drops bangers before Mother’s and Father’s day. If you need a last second idea, or a self-gifting idea, this would be a good place to go.

As always, thanks for reading!
