In short: they are the shit. In medium: Sabahs are handmade leather shoes from Turkey made by a company started in an East Village apartment. They break in overtime to fit like a glove. They are unique. They are extremely high quality. They come in over a dozen colors that are not turn-key, but rather thoughtfully considered and rolled out one at a time. I personally own three pairs of these and judiciously plan out which pair to add next en route to complete catalog ownership. For me, next is the Dallas Sabah pictured above.

I really dislike most of the briefcases I’ve been seeing in my return to commuting through midtown Manhattan. They’ve either got too many pockets and pouches or no space whatsoever to fit your laptop and lunch without squishing the two into each other. There’s not much space in between those two poles. This discontinued Frank Clegg briefcase selling on eBay threads the needle well in my view. The patina of that lightly duffed leather says to me that it’s seen many deals closed-won and still has gas in the tank.
