In Today’s Edition…
We’re taking an exclusive look at shorts. See what’s in store across all modes and mediums of this spring-to-summer category.
Also: New England Shirt, featured in the April 17th issue, is having an excellent warehouse sale right now. If you need an oxford shirt, this is absolutely the time to get one that will last a decade.
LUXURY
F Up Some

These linen shorts from Commas getting placed in today’s letter represents me projecting onto the world that it’s about to get hot and stay hot. The elastic waist and three pockets make them both comfy and practical. The breezy linen fabric is what you want for casual summer days. This is a solid choice for guys who want an easy, stylish short to wear all season long.

Patagonia has released a new line of versatile men's shorts. These shorts are made from recycled fishing nets, have a mesh lining, and a water-repellent coating - perfect for water sports and everyday wear. The 7-inch inseam and Fair Trade production make these shorts both functional and ethical (TIM cares about the environment). Be sure to check out all 14 colorways as well.
STREETWEAR
Top Notch Drop Crotch

When it comes to streetwear shorts, there is no more staple-y short than a Rick Owens drop crotch. While he may not have created this technique, he certainly introduced to it to men the world over and owns this category like no one else. I like the above-pictured Bauhaus short, but the concept has been brought to dozens, if not hundreds, of other Rick shorts to fawn over.
FORMAL WEAR

Moving upmarket a bit, we have the Canvas Lounge short from Imogene + Willie. Look at the slanted pockets. Admire the natural sun-faded patina that comes fresh out the box. The crumble on the elastic drawstring waistband is as tasteful as it is adjustable. I think that the length is nice too: not too low to be in the early aughts, and not too high to make your girlfriend uncomfortable. You can wear it with any type of shirt. Well done short all around.
OFFICE WEAR
No.

Unless you are a lifeguard, a camp councilor, or the CEO of your own business, do not wear shorts to the office.
ONE LAST THING….
