EDITOR’S NOTE
A little bit of East, a little bit of West today. Just no Europe, really. I hope you enjoy the style polarity from formal to skate.
I am OOO next week but will still be providing the essential service that is TIM. I’m too consistent for you all…
Anyway, let’s tap into today.
LUXURY
That Linen Shirt
The Playa Shirt in Snow is made with French linen grown in a clean way and dyed using low-impact color. The shirt gets its soft feel from plant-based wash and is topped off with plant ivory buttons. There are 7 color choices for this shirt—plenty of ways to show mood and compliment your pant and loafer bag. It’s easy to keep sharp since the linen rarely needs touch-ups.
WORKWEAR
Filson (💜) Hoodies
Made with a thick cotton blend, the Prospector Hoodie handles cool weather along with tough use. Its brushed inner side traps heat and a smooth finish helps this hoodie avoid pilling. The big hood fits well and has a draw cord, while a roomy pouch up front keeps phone and keys close. Rib-knit trim at the ends means this one holds its shape wash after wash.
This Filson crew neck has sturdy fleece with a soft brushed inner surface, trapping heat and standing up to years of use. The ribbed ends and neck keep the fit sharp, while the printed art adds some life to days on the job or on the couch. The material helps block wind and shrug off shape loss. Filson slips its name in at the waist if you like a mark but nothing loud.
STREETWEAR
Tightbooth of 🎌
Tightbooth keeps skate and street alive in pieces like these—they are known for relaxed fits made to move. Expect the cut here to be loose, with room to move. Their art and graphics nod to skate crew roots and add edge that normal brands can’t match. Japanese label Tightbooth is where we look to break old style lines and push for new looks.
This big-fit tee has a cool collage print by artist Shusaku Takaoka done with inkjet tech. Made from 7.4oz cotton, it hits a sweet spot that's not too heavy or too light. The back hem is slightly longer, giving it a subtle shape that moves with you. It’s a fresh head-turner that holds up well through daily wear.
This breaker and pant combo have a balloon cut that narrows at the ankle, with pleats at the knee for ease and shape. The nylon fabric is high-density and water-resistant, with a textured checker plate pattern for a bit of edge. Multiple pockets in both components include slash sides and hidden zippers to keep essentials handy. An elastic waist with belt loops and zipper makes them easy to adjust.
FORMAL WEAR
SidMash Pant Opciones
These jeans are shaped to echo old icons but slim down below the knee, and are cut from Cone Mills denim in Los Angeles. The feel is crisp, but the fabric starts to break in to our shape with each wear. Blue Oxford pocketing, a button fly, and brass bits round out the quiet details. This natural off-white shade works for those of us who like the look of white jeans, but without the stress and pressure.
Sid Mashburn’s wool trouser is made in Italy with English high-twist wool for shape that holds up and a crisp look that means less fuss. Horn buttons, a split-back waist, and long hem let us tune the fit. We get a bit of airflow thanks to the open weave, so this pant keeps us from cooking on muggy days or feeling stuffy in the room. It’s a go-to if you want a sharp look in the summer without a stiff form.
OFFICE WEAR
Knit Polos: To Button or Not to Button?
J.Crew’s seed-stitch polo has pure cotton spun in a textured pattern, making this shirt feel rich with depth. The cut is relaxed, but not sloppy, and the short sleeve lets us wear it with a jacket or on its own. Breathable and soft, the seed stitch is easy to learn—small, raised dots across the shirt give it a light bump and visual kick. This one has a button front and above-hip length for a sharper look.
The Pale Canvas polo has the same soft cotton, seed-stitch design as above, and a pale, low-key tone that pairs with dress pants or denim. A knit collar leads to a short button zone and a simple band at the edge. The textured knit keeps skin cool, and the shirt pulls on easy, holding its color and shape over time. We reach for this when we want a touch of polish without dressing up too much.
ONE LAST THING….
‘Little French Boy’ shirt
Ok, so maybe one pinch of Euro for you… There’s something about a horizontal blue striped shirt that just screams “little boy frolicking in the French countryside.” If you ever are looking to give that (?), this shirt will give it.
As always, thanks for reading!
