EDITOR’S NOTE

I saw a Spanish jazz pianist last night and have to say, it lacked the gusto that comes standard with a Latin jazz artist. The performance was solid, but overall just felt safe. I thought “Alvaro Torres” was more likely to bring the rhythm of Maracaibo than that of Madrid.

No more European jazz moving forward for me. Jazz is an American enterprise — be it North, Central or South American. (Japan gets a hall pass.)

Anyway, let’s tap into today.

LUXURY
Linen Pants.

Linen pants are the best part about summer menswear. Get ahead of Mother Nature and be prepared for the day they are summoned out of the closet and into the wild.

The Row

The Silas Pant in brown from The Row delivers a clean, tailored look with its mid-rise waist and straight-leg cut, made from a soft linen blend that moves easily. Its minimalist design skips logos and flashy details, focusing on subtle tailoring that works for both office days and weekends. This shade of brown pairs well with neutral tones or bold colors, making it a practical base layer for varied outfits.

The Row

The Russel Pant blends breathable linen and cotton knit in a relaxed wide-leg cut, ideal for warm-weather ease. Its elastic waist with a drawstring and side pockets adds laid-back utility, while the textured fabric keeps it from feeling too basic. Made in Italy, the light pebble hue works with neutrals or bolder shades for casual days.

WORKWEAR
Hard-working Alex Mill Essentials

Alex Mill

The Perfect Weekend Tote from Alex Mill is a smart pick for anyone who wants a bag that’s tough, practical, and stylish. Made from hemp canvas, it has a natural texture that feels sturdy without being stiff. The tote has thoughtful touches like interior pockets to keep your gear organized and a snap closure for easy access. Its neutral color makes it easy to pair with anything, while the durable material ensures it’s ready for whatever your weekend throws at you

Alex Mill

The Alex Mill AM Original jeans in Vintage Light Indigo keep things simple with a mid-rise, straight-leg fit that works for most body types. Made from 100% cotton, they balance structure and comfort while fading naturally over time. The light indigo wash gives off a relaxed vibe, perfect for pairing with tees or button-downs. Available in sizes 28-36, they’re a no-fuss option for daily wear.

STREETWEAR
🇯🇵

Vestiaire Collective

This blue cotton jacket from Number (N)ine leans into relaxed tailoring with a slightly boxy cut and subtle cropped length, ideal for layering over tees or button-ups. The mid-weight fabric works across seasons, while details like the notch lapels and flap pockets nod to classic workwear without feeling costume-y. It’s a low-key way to try the "quiet luxury" vibe that’s still trending, especially in this versatile navy shade.

Auralee

This lightweight half-zip from Auralee pulls off a breezy, see-through look in jade green, using ultra-thin nylon for a smooth, translucent drape that moves like liquid. The oversized cut keeps it relaxed, while the liquid dye process gives it a soft hand feel—ideal for throwing over tees when you want coverage without any heft.

FORMAL WEAR
Contrast London Flows

Daniel W. Fletcher

The Contrast Stitch Shirt from Daniel W Fletcher's AW collection updates a casual button-up with subtle design tweaks. Its key detail lies in the stitching: contrasting thread along seams and edges creates clean lines that catch the eye without the need for loud patterns. Made from mid-weight cotton, it works layered under jackets or solo in transitional weather. The tailored fit keeps it sharp enough for casual offices, while the spread collar and curved hem nod to workwear vibes.

Daniel W. Fletcher

The next level would be the Basting Stitch Tuxedo Jacket from the same collection, which updates formal wear with a less subtle flair. Its unfinished "basting stitch" detailing along the seams adds a raw edge to the classic tuxedo shape, blending sharp tailoring with a deconstructed look. The jacket uses lightweight wool for structure without stiffness, ideal for modern events. Pair it with sleek trousers or dark jeans for a dressed-down spin on black-tie style.

OFFICE WEAR
Concessions to Vest Enthusiasts

I’d like to note that at TIM we hate the PEV: private equity vest. Think Patagonia with a firm logo (example here 🤢 ). But we don’t hate all vests and actually see value in sleeveless insulation. To evince the nuance of this category posture, here are two vests that I’m okay with — perhaps even excited about.

Herno

The Resort Waistcoat from Herno updates the classic vest with a denim look in navy blue, crafted from a lightweight cotton blend for easy layering. Its slim fit and tailored shape work under jackets or alone, while the waistcoat’s five-button front and welt pockets add subtle polish. This piece bridges casual and smart, ideal for transitioning between seasons without heavy fabrics

Peter Millar

The Peter Millar Featherweight Suede Vest in sand pairs soft, thin suede with a lightweight design for transitional weather. Its slim cut and hidden zippers keep things sleek, while the lack of a collar adds a modern edge to layered looks. This piece works with chinos or jeans, making it an easy pick for casual outings or dressed-up weekends.
