EDITOR’S NOTE
America. Freedom. Hot dogs. Boats. And a bunch of American-made goods.
Bank holidays are dank holidays.
Anyway, let’s tap into today.
FORMAL WEAR
New England Linen
This shirt is made from linen, which means it stays cool and breathes well, even when things heat up. The navy plaid pattern is sharp but not too bold, and the button-down collar keeps it neat under a jacket or on its own. We like how the linen gets softer with each wear. It’s a solid pick for summer events or any day we want to look sharp without feeling stuffy.
A relaxed camp shirt cut from striped linen, this one is built for warm days and easy style. The spread collar and single chest pocket keep the shape classic, and the linen fabric means it stays light and cool. We like how the stripes add some pop without being over the top. It’s the kind of shirt that makes summer dressing simple.
OFFICE WEAR
Tennessee Living
This shirt is cut and sewn in the USA from a washed poplin cotton, so it feels broken-in the first time we wear it. The fit is trim but not tight, and the orange buttonhole at the bottom adds a small hit of color. We like the rear box pleat and locker loop, which are old-school details that make it feel special. It works just as well under a blazer as it does on its own.
These pants are made from a cotton-poly blend that feels sturdy but not stiff, and the fit is relaxed without being baggy. The color, Postman Blue, is a nod to classic work pants, and the zipper fly keeps things easy. We like that they’re cut and sewn in the USA, and the fabric holds up well to daily wear. They’re a sharp pick for days at the office or when we want to dress up our usual tee and sneakers.
STREETWEAR
An LA Hoodie
This pullover has a roomy fit and a soft, washed-in feel that makes it easy to throw on for errands or a night out. The color, called Chicory Coffee, is a deep brown that stands out without being loud. We like the kangaroo pocket and ribbed cuffs, which give it a classic hoodie shape. It’s made to last, so it won’t lose shape after a few washes.
WORKWEAR
All American Cotton
This tee is made from slub cotton, which gives it a bit of texture and a lived-in feel right out of the box. The straight hem means it looks good untucked, and the Venice wash gives the color a faded, easy look. We like how the fit is not too tight or too loose, making it a solid base for any workday or weekend. It’s the kind of tee you end up reaching for again and again.
These jeans use a herringbone twill, which is a fabric with a subtle zigzag pattern that adds some interest without being loud. The khaki color works for both job sites and casual days, and the fit is based on a classic work jean, so it’s roomy but not baggy. We like how the fabric feels tough but still moves with us. The details are kept simple, so they pair well with just about any shirt or jacket.
LUXURY
Purple Label Belts
The Ralph Lauren Brass-Buckle Calfskin Belt is made from soft calfskin leather, first used for riding gear, so it feels smooth and will gain a rich look over time. The brass buckle adds a nice touch of shine, and the classic brown shade works with jeans or dress pants. This belt is all about simple style and great leather—no extra flash needed. We like that it’s built to last and gets better as we wear it.
Ralph Lauren’s Calf Suede Roller Buckle Belt has soft suede and a roller buckle with an aged brass finish, making it easy to wear and adjust. The keeper has a small Polo logo pressed in, which is a nice detail without being loud. The suede feels rich and the 1.5-inch width fits most pants, so it’s a solid pick for dressing up or down. If you want a belt that feels special but not showy, this one does the job.
ONE LAST THING….
Jaws is Back
I’m writing this before the results of the 2025 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest are in, but one thing I know is that the event has returned to glory. Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, the 16-time champion, is back in the spotlight and it feels good.
For those that don’t know Joey, he’s somewhat of a childhood hero for me. In my utterly spoiled fan history as a Bostonian, I’ve had plenty of idols to look up to. My Mount Rushmore of competitive athletes? Tom Brady, David Ortiz, Paul Pierce, and Joey Chestnut. Nobody, Not even Brady, is so dedicated to peak performance and winning in his sport as Jaws.
For fun, read this excerpt that is actually written in his Wikipedia:
Chestnut, a San Jose State University student, entered the competitive eating scene in 2005 with a break-out performance in the deep-fried asparagus eating championship, in which he beat high-ranked eater Rich LeFevre by eating 6.3 pounds (2.9 kg) of asparagus in 11.5 minutes.
I’ve heard that Joey is draped in some controversy, but very few things in life can be counted on with such steadfast consistency as Joey shoving 60-70 hot dogs (with buns) down his gullet in 10 minutes flat. Rock on, Champ.
As always, thanks for reading!
