EDITOR’S NOTE

A rant:

In 2026, Instagram use is not chic or cool or fun. It’s mass. It’s like walking through Times Square.

The only exception to my vitriol here is if you use social media for business. Then it’s a marketing tool/channel, in which case: get your bag, girl. TIM used to have accompanying Instagram and TikTok videos, but I dreaded making them, so I stopped and re-deleted the apps.

Social media use as an individual is like selling your time without getting a paycheck in return! The best relationship with it is no relationship. Sorry for the vent. I promise I’m having good day otherwise.

Anyway, let’s tap into today.

LUXURY
Tasty Combo Platter

Bryceland’s

This 100% cotton herringbone twill chore coat is cut with a full, paneled sleeve. There’s room for a knit or a jacket underneath with no pulling at the arm. Unfinished brass buttons will age on their own, a double pocket sits top-left, and a slash pocket just below holds a lighter as well as a watch. Available raw or washed, this thing paired together with the pants below anchor a certified hit of a fit.

Bryceland’s

Cut high at the waist with a full hip and a gentle taper, this 100% cotton chino is made in Japan and shaped on the lines of the 1945 US Army trouser. Double besom back pockets and a coin pocket round out the details, and the wide leg opening takes a work boot or a penny loafer with equal ease. Worn with the chore coat above, it's a complete look with a clear point of view.

WORKWEAR
Dutch Kicks

Unbeknownst to me, there is a brand in Amsterdam called Mercer that is pumping out great athletic and athletic-adjacent sneakers. Here were my two favorite from a thorough perusal.

Mercer

Amsterdam's Mercer built this trail shoe around a Vibram MegaGrip outsole for real outdoor traction, with a dual-layer midsole made from sugarcane and bamboo powder (can’t make this stuff up). At 338g, it sits on the natural side of the cushion spectrum. It’s more grounded than a typical running shoe, which makes it just as good on pavement as on a trail.

Mercer

The Re-Run Max has a chunky rubber sole under a soft premium suede upper with a breathable mesh lining. It’s more body than a slim runner but light on the foot. I think the grey and taupe mix is nice. It reads closer to a low-profile dad shoe than a performance sneaker. Which, to be clear, is why I like it.

FYI: if anyone’s interested in this brand, reply to this email and I can help figure out a freight-forwarder for US delivery.

STREETWEAR
Two Outer Layers

Stüssy

This recycled nylon pullover is the kind of piece they've always done well. Clean shape, no fuss, right details. A YKK half zip opens at the chest with an interior zip guard behind it, welt pockets sit on each side, and piping runs the sleeve seams and chest panel for structure without stiffness. The rear vent has a mesh panel behind it to let heat out. Relaxed fit, unlined, unisex.

Stüssy

A boxy 100% cotton canvas work jacket, fully lined in cotton, with a YKK metal zip up the front and a collar that sits high enough to mean something. Chest welt pocket, slanted split welts at the sides, adjustable snaps at the cuffs and rear hem, and metal underarm eyelets for airflow.

FORMAL WEAR
Fantastic Wool Blazer + Trouser

More Bryceland’s for ya…

Bryceland’s

Made in Japan from Super 100's melton wool, this blazer takes the British schoolboy as its reference and runs it through Bryceland's filter: a neat shoulder with a receding seam, a 3-roll-2 front, patch pockets, and brass buttons. The A-line cut lets it slouch over wide trousers or sit tidy with a rep tie. Grey flannel is the most sensible canvas for both.

Bryceland’s

Cut in the same Super 100's melton wool as the Schoolboy jacket above, these forward-pleated trousers close with a button fly and hang from belt loops. The pleat gives room through the hip and thigh, and the fabric matches the jacket for those who want to run the set.

OFFICE WEAR
Best Deal in Merino

Uniqlo

Knit from 19.5 micron extra-fine 100% merino wool — the same fiber spec you'll find on sweaters at three or four times the price — this crewneck has a smooth hand and a finer knit than most basics at this tier of $50. Ribbed collar, cuffs, and hem hold their shape, and a pilling-resistant finish means it stays looking right through regular use. It's machine washable, which at this price point almost feels like cheating. Usually available in grey, olive, black, and navy, you’ll have to add your name to the waiting list. This consistently sells out the week/day it’s re-stocked.
