LUXURY
JW Jean Jacket
JW Anderson's Twisted Denim Jacket is a clever take on the staple denim outwear category. This piece features a boxy fit and unique twisted panel design, giving it a cool slanted edge across the chest. The contrast top stitching and silver-tone hardware are other subtle flairs, while the logo-embossed patch gives it a brand nod in the way a pair of Levi’s 501s would. JW Anderson menswear is not to be slept on while he more loudly is making waves in womenswear at Loewe.
WORKWEAR
Advanced. Very Advanced
Salomon's Speedcross Advanced trail shoes are all about seal, grip and comfort, making them ideal for muddy and mixed terrains (or the Lower East Side). These shoes have a sleek, updated outsole that helps shed mud and water quickly, ensuring better traction on wet surfaces. The sock-like construction provides a snug fit, and differentiates them from the other XT-4 and XT-6’s that flood the streets.
STREETWEAR
Beams Block Print
Beams Plus, the casual American sub-brand of parent label Beams, has three block print SSBDs on sale right now. I particularly like this brown shirt above because of the irregular line placement in the orthogonal block print design. Moreover, the different strands of color lend this to pairing well with a variety of pants, shorts, shoes, vests, jackets and so on. For example, this thing unbuttoned over a heavily weighted white cotton long sleeve on a chilly day in October is 50% of the greatest skate fit ever. Tap in.
FORMAL WEAR
Classic Penny
It’s the first formal shoe a man should own. Before the monk strap, before the driver, before the Belgian, there is the penny loafer. You get a Larson Penny Loafer from GH Bass in black, you keep it in a dust bag in the back of your closet, and then wait for the inevitable moment when an occasion calls for an understated leather shoe. At that point in time, you have no fear because there is an automatically classic formal shoe ready for the moment. Sometimes, it’s that simple.
OFFICE WEAR
Linen Polo (rare)
How often is it that we see a short sleeve polo shirt in linen? Not often. It’s usually a long sleeve varietal that gets the quintessentially summer fabric. The Mello Linen Polo Shirt from Frescobol Carioca, a menswear brand based off the ethos of Rio de Janeiro, is a welcome trailblazer into a category of its own. I also like the “spinach” colorway that it’s being offered in, to my own surprise.
ONE LAST THING….
*Laughing*
Guess how much you think this single breasted embroidered blazer from Gucci is. Seriously, think about an actual number.
Have one? Okay, now double it. Like, literally multiply the number you just thought of by two.
