EDITOR’S NOTE
A challenge for this weekend is to wear a ~ risky ~ piece you have in your summer wardrobe. Maybe that’s a pair of loafers that are a funky color, maybe it’s a cropped-ankle trouser, or a straw hat you were gifted at a resort in Punta Cana. Whatever it is, why not soft launch it at the pregame and see if it sticks?
Anyway, let’s tap into today.
LUXURY
NOAH FW24
NOAH launched its Fall/Winter 2024 collection yesterday to celebrate its 10th anniversary, focusing on more mature designs. The new range features tailored pieces like a double-breasted cotton suit, alongside other stylish garments such as rugby shirts and chinos. Collaborations with Barbour and PUMA add unique touches to the collection, which are live on site now.
WORKWEAR
The Normie Jean
The Normie Jean in Selvedge by AYR is a pair of straight-fit jeans that cut zero corners and are essentially perfect. Made from Louisiana-milled selvedge denim, these jeans are sturdy in feel and a clean in finish. I origianlly came across them when Michael Williams wrote about them in ACL. Available in two inseam options, 30" for those under 5'11" and 32" for taller individuals, these jeans are designed to cater to different body types, and will last you years, not months.
STREETWEAR
One More Left
There’s one more of these distressed denim jackets from All Saints at Nordstrom, available for 60% off in XL and another in XXL. This thing has a corduroy collar, horizontal breast zip pocket, and the faded red color makes it stand out. The distressing on the cuffs is not for everyone, but I think it came out pretty good because they didn’t over do it. All Saints is usually a fairly sterile brand in my view, but this piece came out nice and a 60% price reduction makes it go down easier.
FORMAL WEAR
If you’re bold…
Donald Pliner's Spirro loafers are a sleek choice for any guy that isn’t afraid to make a statement. These loafers have a woven leather design and tassels that add some real Belgian-shoe energy. Made in Italy with a memory foam foot bed, these loafers combine comfort with a polished look that work for many types of formal occasions. Two other colorways are also available, but this one is the best.
OFFICE WEAR
Upscale Sweatpants
I haven’t made up my mind up on these track pants from the premium English label Reiss. I think it fits into “affluent airport garb,” but could equally belong in your work from home lineup, thereby granting it a pass to appear in the office wear section. They have ribbed cuffs, three pockets, and a drawstring with faux-fly. But then there’s this vertical pleat (is it a pleat?) running down the front of both legs. I’m going to leave the final verdict up to you, but this is a fascinating interpretation of a track pant from a luxury label.
ONE LAST THING….
Nigo x Marc Jacobs
Marc Jacobs the brand is now 40 years old, and they re-did a 1990s Superman pullover design in wool and alpaca with the help of Japanese designer Nigo. It would be such a flex to pull up to the function in this… a cozy flex.
P.S. the Kapital fleece that looks like a vintage Patagonia is still on the market…
