EDITOR’S NOTE

This weekend proved my fall layer initiation thesis wrong hardcore. We are in jean jacket season at best. No Sherpa, no flannel… god forbid anybody took their goose down out of deep storage. Things can change on a dime in these climate changed times, people. Stay versatile.

Anyway, let’s tap into today.

LUXURY
100% Handmade (but actually)

Kartik Research

The team at Kartik Research is different. They make all of their pieces by hand, and I mean that literally. Even fabrics are woven on hand looms in India. For several of their pieces, they boast that zero electricity is used from start to finish in the product lifecycle. Who else can say that?? The above Wool Chore Coat is embroidered by hand, dyed by hand, and the wool was made on a hand loom. That is just so laudable in this era of clothing. 10/10.

WORKWEAR
Delish Denim Jacket

Savas

Atelier Savas of Los Angeles and Nashville gifted us the Denham, a black denim jacket that takes cues from vintage workwear. This piece has the signatures: a point collar, button-up front, and two chest pockets with flaps. But it’s also got four body pockets, selvedge denim, and custom brass hardware for a touch of luxury. With its cropped length, The Denham is everything you need in a daily driver denim jacket. I'd definitely get year-round wear out of this, which ought to give it an ever-changing patina over time.

STREETWEAR
biscuithead of Japan

Antithesis

Led by a former pattern maker for Comme des Garçons, the brand biscuithead was started in 2015. The above-pictured patch pocket pants in black have a relaxed, straight fit and a unique patch pocket design on both the front and back. There’s a hand-sized slot in each pocket so that no zippers or hardware are needed. Made from a cotton blend fabric, the trousers are cozy but utterly unique.

FORMAL WEAR
Pretty Blue Loafers

J.M. Weston

J.M. Weston's Double Vent loafer in navy water-resistant nubuck leather is a sleek update to their iconic style. The shoe features a hand-sewn apron (that gorgeous white), penny keeper strap, and double-sided elastic gussets for easy slip-on wear. Crafted in France, this loafer sits atop a leather sole with a rubber insert, offering both style and comfort for everyday use. But how about that navy blue hue?? It’s nautical yet professional. It’s going to make you want to find a few new pairs of trousers to pair with, but that sounds like a wonderful homework assignment.

OFFICE WEAR
One (1) Grey Blazer

Nordstrom

Ted Baker’s Karl sport coat is a smart jacket for a work trip. This gray jacket blends cotton and linen for a textured look that fits this fummer (Fall/Summer) weather. The notch lapels and two-button closure enable it to be converted to quasi suiting, while the patch pockets let you wear it with a pair of jeans when you’re off duty. It's a nice choice for those who want to step up their blazer game without going full suit.

ONE LAST THING….
The Sho’ Goes On

MLB on Twitter

Baseball means literally nothing to me for 50/52 weeks of the year, but damn for these other two, it sure is captivating. Let’s go Dodgers.
