EDITOR’S NOTE
A haiku about the quiet weekend I am about to have:
Plenty of shut-eye,
Administrative catchup,
NFL Red Zone.
Anyway, let’s tap into today.
LUXURY
Max Mara Men’s
In honor of getting one of these yesterday, I bring you all the 101801 Madame Coat from Max Mara. Originally designed in 1981 by Anne-Marie Beretta, she based it off of an archetypal 1970s men's long coat. The 101801 has drop-shoulder kimono sleeves, an oversized fit that’s still got perfect proportions, and has yet to fall even one step behind current taste. The 101 is expensive as it's made of virgin wool and cashmere, but it is one of the few pieces justified in calling itself timeless.
WORKWEAR
Uniqlo x JW Anderson (again)
We’ve done this one before: JW Anderson collaborates with Uniqlo, and we funnel our money without hesitation. The Spring/Summer collection from these two was hit after hit (I have three pieces from it), and this Fall collection is no different. These wide leg jeans above, in addition to wide leg chinos, long jackets and sweaters cover all the essential weather basics. Once again: where else are you getting design from a preeminent creative director (Jonathan Anderson, leads Loewe) for double-digit dollar signs? Nowhere is the answer.
STREETWEAR
Icy Linen
James Coward's Range Jacket in Lead Belgian Linen offers perhaps the only instance of fall linen I’m okay with. It’s workwear-inspired outerwear that immediately caught my eye. The jacket features a point collar, patch pockets, and premium metal buttons, blending utility with elegance. Crafted from 100% Belgian linen, it promises comfort and breathability for those intermittent spurts of warmth we get throughout fall these days. The relaxed fit and subtle details make it a standout for those seeking a balance of casual and polished.
FORMAL WEAR
Cashmere Turtle
In a category first for TIM, we’re looking at Loro Piana’s cashmere turtleneck sweater. A lot of men are scared of turtlenecks, and some are too confident in them. I think the key is to make sure you have the right sizing, and to size up when you’re on the fence. Turtles are tight in three places: the cuffs, the waist and of course the neck. Since there are already places hugging you, it’s key that you don’t turn this knit top fully tight to the extent that it’s a Nike Pro inner lining fit for a base layer on the ski slopes. Add to this option that it’s made of 100% cashmere, and it’s a clear winner.
OFFICE WEAR
Filson Sale
There’s a huge Filson sale going on right now. A few highlights for me are this “Jac-shirt” pictured above, this thick sweater, this thiqué sweater and finally a classic Filson Twill Field Bag. Discounts are ranging from 25% on the low end to 70% off at the top, which is enough to trigger a sizeable dopamine hit in my brain. God, I need help. Seriously, get active in this sale before prices jump back to their (justified) peaks.
ONE LAST THING….
The Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend
‘sko Guardians, baby! Any guesses where I’m from yet??
