I’m officially ready for crisp fall days, denser pants and sweaters. Maybe give me one more beach caliber weekend, but otherwise I’m all set with hot weather. It’s time once more for boots. For jackets zipped to the top. Some switch has flipped in my brain and I’m now wanting to see my breath when I step outside again…

This indigo work jacket is made from 100% linen hopsack woven in a basket pattern that breathes. Unlined to keep it light, with cotton stays inside for shape, it drapes with ease. A cotton polo with a raised honeycomb texture that gives it real shape and depth. Button front, regular fit, soft enough to wear solo or layer under a jacket. Machine wash, so no fuss. The raised knit keeps it from reading flat.

I ran into the man I wrote about in the July 24th Edition again, and he had another tailored shirt with custom shirt darting.

He’d traded in the side-adjuster trousers for a pair of dark navy chinos. Knowing him, they were 100% cotton. No Belgian-style loafers, just regular black derbies that looked like they’d been shined in the past couple weeks.

Interestingly he was carrying a more robust bag. Granted this was taken on a Wednesday, not a Friday like last time. He has more business to attend to mid-week, surely. This was a Japanese brand with an obscure top-closure system. I couldn’t catch the brand name, but it was a far cry from the dainty, near-empty canvas tote he carried last time we caught up.

Lastly, it was exciting to see that he subscribes to the straight-finish neckline camp for his haircuts. I’ve always thought a straight finish was cleaner than a tapered finish. I think tapered finishes are only meant for gene pools that grow dark hair rapidly like the Greeks and some southern Italians.
