Dries Van Noten, American Giant, Needles, Ted Baker, Paul Smith

EDITOR’S NOTE

Irish adage of the day: there are letters of accent and letters of tone, but the best of all letters is to let her alone.

Anyway, let’s tap into today.

LUXURY
Full-wool Button down

Courtesy of La Garçonne

I mean… take the trend of knit polo short sleeves but make it a full length button down. That’s what Dries Van Noten did with the Mullins Shirt in Dark Brown. This thing is 100% imported wool with a patch pocket, curved rear hem and ribbed cuffing on the sleeves. This thing skyrockets to the top of my FW24 wishlist. This is also available in Marine.

WORKWEAR
A Perfect T-Shirt?

Made from start to finish in the USA and finished in Los Angeles, CA, the Everest Tee from American Giant is as good as a white tee gets. Weighing in at over 15 ounces per square yard, this thing is 3x heavier than what Hanes or Uniqlo sells, a difference you can really feel. Something about American made cotton tees in 2024 just feels correct, and I know that all future white tees from me are coming from American Giant.

STREETWEAR
Needles.

Four pockets, satin piping, gold hue, tapered and draped to the boot and beyond. If you think I’m posting about Needles too much, you’re going to have to unsubscribe. These Gold Piped Cowboy Trousers are, for some reason, just $150 right now, and I want them in my weekly rotation stat. I just really love this brand…

FORMAL WEAR
Ted Baker Linen Deal

This 55% linen blend slim-fit blazer from Ted Baker is on sale for just $87 right now if you’re a size 46. Not sure what size you are? Look at this video. If you ask me, that’s a fantastic value pick up for something that immediately puts you in the top 10% for well-dressed at a summer party (provided you don’t bite off more than you can chew with the rest of the fit). Get it while the getting’s good from Selfridge’s.

OFFICE WEAR
Paul Smith Houndstooth

I, for one, am already sick of plain blue shirts on repeat for office faring men. And my career is in its infancy! This houndstooth button down shirt from Paul Smith provides some spice, some novelty, some diversity to your work rotation that hopefully makes your day just 1% less mundane. Sometimes in the throes of corporate America, staving off the mundane is its own victory. Perhaps it’s cotton and lyocell in houndstooth that will provide you that spark.

ONE LAST THING….
I know this is a menswear blog, but:
