As promised, one menswear outfit from the Met Gala on Monday for each of the five categories. Hope you enjoy, and let me know what you think about the looks.

LUXURY
The Best Ben’s Ever Done

He may be the most overhyped draft pick in recent memory, but his stylist is punching above their weight. The way this overcoat by Thom Browne goes from colorful knit to a waxed wool blend is immaculate. I want this to just wear as a shawl around town on a cold Sunday in the city. Well done, Ben. Get the same quality coach for shooting that you do for clothes.

WORKWEAR
Getting the Job Done

Donald Glover showed up in the only fit I’d feel confident changing a tire in. While it is a Saint Laurent throwback suit in camel-beige, you can’t help but feel like you would be clear from any danger of hurting yourself if you started to use large power tools. I want this exact version of him reading me TV news at 6:30pm on a CRT television in my grandma’s living room. Gambino is a mastermind (lol).

STREETWEAR
Jaden Smith in New Balances

The fit isn’t really that street, but props go to Jaden Smith for wearing New Balances on the red carpet. A collaboration with his own brand MSFTS, the New Balance 0.01 is a pretty stylish and affordable low top. As for the rest of the outfit, I like the layering, I like the silhouette from the waist down a lot, and the jacket buttons as fasteners around the arms are unique. Weird dude, good fit.

FORMAL WEAR
Reece Feldman in Thom Browne

I don’t even know who this guy is, but he’s doing right by American men's suiting scion Thom Browne, who is in fact taking up 40% of this edition of TIM. I like the utilization of the dog shaped Hector bag. Furthermore, I like the bow tie being the same color as the shirt. How often does the guy wearing a bow tie overcompensate by choosing a ridiculous color or pattern? Because of this stylist, that number was lowered by one on Monday.

OFFICE WEAR
Another Day at the Office

Chris Hemsworth gets this category because it literally looks like every picture you’ve ever seen of this guy. Is he at the Met Gala, or is he just out on a regular press tour, script reading, date night? You tell me. If office wear means the stuff you wear to go to work every day, Chris Hemsworth is the only torch-bearer to consider. All beige Tom Ford suit for those wondering.

Best Dressed: Tom Ford

It makes sense. The maker of movies like Nocturnal Animals and the referencee of Jay Z, Tom Ford represents all that is good in American men’s luxury. No notes, Tom.
